Become a judge.

And help us cheer on the next generation of genius.

Want to support innovation among young people across the country and ensure an even playing field?

Become a judge to review student submissions, celebrate creativity and nurture problem-solving skills that last a lifetime.

What you’ll do as a judge.
  1. Review video pitches.

Judges watch student videos describing their ideas and the impact they hope to make. Videos are simple, student-created recordings — no polished editing needed.
  2. Consider key elements.
Judges will consider factors directly stated or implied in the pitch:
    • Clarity – does the entry (and pitch) clearly identify a business or social problem?
    • Creativity –
      1. Does the entry (and pitch) include an innovative and creative solution?
      2. How creative is the name and pitch video?
    • Persuasiveness – How well does the presenter(s) sell the judges on their idea?
    • Other Criteria:
      1. For Round 2, judges will also consider the quality of proposed short term actions and long term vision.
      2. For the Semi-Final and Final Rounds, the Administrator may announce additional judging criteria with the instructions and template circulated to participants 45 days prior to the Live Pitch Event in Flint.
  3. Support youth creativity.

Judges help ensure that all kids, from all states, have a chance to shine, grow and feel proud of their work.
Support kids & teens as they better themselves, their lives and their communities.

The competition connects directly to life-long skills. For example, it:

  • Encourages creativity and innovation
  • Builds communication and presentation skills
  • Allows real-world application of problem-solving
  • Supports collaboration in team entries

The best part? The entire process can radically boost student confidence by showing them firsthand how deeply adults believe in them and their ideas.
